Eight Palettely templates worth remixing first
A practical tour of polished Palettely templates, why they work, and the prompts behind them.
Palettely templates are meant to be starting points, not locked assets. The best ones have a readable silhouette, a limited palette, and enough small detail to survive recoloring. Here are eight templates that are good first remixes.
Forest Cabin 128
128x128 templateForest CabinA cozy moss-roof cabin with a readable silhouette, pine accents, and warm cottage colors.Open templateThis is one of the strongest large templates because the roof, chimney, door, and pine details are readable at a glance. It is useful for cozy game maps, product empty states, or a landing-page illustration that needs a friendly outdoor mood.
Prompt:
single small forest cabin with moss roof, chimney, and pine accents, palette direction: moss green, bark brown, cottage cream, and golden highlights, true 128x128 pixel art sprite, polished retro game assetTry it with the Forest palette first, then switch to Dawn for a warmer vacation-cabin version.
Market Stall 128
128x128 templateMarket StallA shop prop with clear canopy, crate, and lantern regions that survive palette swaps.Open templateThe stall works because it has three strong regions: canopy, crates, and lantern. That structure makes palette swaps cleaner than a noisy full scene. Use it for shop screens, crafting systems, cozy RPG towns, or a marketplace blog hero.
Prompt:
cozy market stall with striped canopy, fruit crates, and lantern, palette direction: warm cream background, chocolate outline, cozy teal, tomato red, and golden accents, true 128x128 pixel art sprite, polished retro game assetIf the fruit area gets too bright, keep the outline dark and only shift the canopy accent.
Wizard Tower 128
128x128 templateWizard TowerA fantasy tower with a crooked outline, moon ornament, and a strong glowing-window focal point.Open templateThis template has a memorable outline: crooked tower, moon ornament, and glowing window. It is a good test for fantasy palettes because the silhouette remains clear even when the accent colors change.
Prompt:
single crooked wizard tower with moon ornament and glowing window, palette direction: playful pink, teal, lemon, and soft purple accents, true 128x128 pixel art sprite, polished retro game assetUse Bubblegum for charm, Ember for a darker mage tower, or Mono for a handbook icon.
Koi Pond 128
128x128 templateKoi PondA contained scene with a round pond edge, lily pads, and enough detail for premium asset cards.Open templateKoi Pond is useful when you want a scene that still behaves like an icon. The circular pond edge keeps the composition contained, while the fish and lily pads add enough detail for a premium asset card.
Prompt:
round koi pond with two fish, lily pads, and stone edge, palette direction: clear teal, deep navy, seafoam, coral, and shell cream, true 128x128 pixel art sprite, polished retro game assetThe Ocean palette is the natural fit. For UI decoration, try Tomodachi to make the stone edge softer.
Astronaut Cat Pilot 128
128x128 templateAstronaut Cat PilotA larger mascot sprite with a clean helmet shape, dark face read, and a simple space-suit silhouette.Open templateThe astronaut cat works because the helmet reads before the small details. It is useful for avatars, launch graphics, stickers, and “space project” empty states where a plain animal mascot would feel too generic.
Prompt:
black cat astronaut in round helmet with star reflection, compact backpack, red eyes visible through visor, palette direction: clean grayscale values with strong black and cream contrast, true 128x128 pixel art sprite, polished retro game assetKeep the helmet and face as the two big regions before editing backpack details.
Witch Cauldron 64
64x64 templateWitch CauldronA small magic prop with bubbles, sparkles, and a dark base that keeps the effect readable.Open templateThis one is a good example of controlled effects. The bubbles and sparkles add motion without requiring animation. It works well for magic shops, potion systems, Halloween posts, and loading-state illustrations.
Prompt:
witch cauldron with bubbling green potion and tiny sparkles, palette direction: playful pink, teal, lemon, and soft purple accents, true 64x64 pixel art sprite, polished retro game assetIf you remix it, keep the cauldron dark and move most color variation into the potion.
Mushroom Cottage 48
48x48 templateMushroom CottageA mid-size cottage marker with a rounded roof, tiny door, and mossy stone texture.Open templateMushroom Cottage is a good mid-size asset. The rounded roof and door are readable, while the mossy stones give it enough texture to avoid looking like a flat icon.
Prompt:
tiny cottage with mushroom roof, round door, and mossy stones, palette direction: moss green, bark brown, cottage cream, and golden highlights, true 48x48 pixel art sprite, polished retro game assetTry this as a base for item shops, map markers, or a “home base” icon in a game UI.
Dragon Egg 48
48x48 templateDragon EggA collectible item sprite built around cracks, scales, and one strong center glow.Open templateDragon Egg is built around one simple object with a strong center highlight. That makes it a reliable template for reward items, quest inventory, or achievement badges.
Prompt:
large dragon egg with cracks, scales, and warm glow, palette direction: dark brown outline, brass highlights, ember red, and muted orange light, true 48x48 pixel art sprite, polished retro game assetFor a colder variant, remap it to Ocean and turn the cracks into icy blue highlights.
What to change first
Start with the palette before editing pixels. If the template still reads well after a palette swap, it is structurally strong. Then edit only one or two areas: a sign, a light color, a character expression, or a small prop. That keeps the template clean enough to export as PNG, SVG, JSON, CSS, or Tailwind without turning it into visual noise.
